UK cancer strategies acknowledge the value of working with the voluntary sector. While strategic collaboration is essential, partnership working with service providers is also crucial and many initiatives throughout the UK have been proven to have a direct effect on people’s experiences of cancer care services.
In addition, the day-to-day support services provided by the voluntary sector are greatly appreciated by people with cancer. The breadth of services on offer augment those provided by the NHS as people attempt to navigate their way through cancer care.
